Dare to disagree with Arindam Chaudhry's IIPM?

As a solution to dalits' and minorities' electricity problems, Malay Chaudhry (the self-proclaimed management guru father of his self-proclaimed management guru ponytailed son Arindam Chaudhry) calls for giving each dalit household a diesel engine dynamo 'which will give light for 4 hours a day during the night' (akin to having an eggs-&-sandwiches breakfast for the afternoon dinner). He also advocates two tube wells in each dalit village to solve the drinking water problem, complete with a business plan (it's not too tough to attach statistics to an argument).

(Source: 'Renewing India: Let Caste/Community Divide Disappear' in the IIPM full-page advertisement in October 10, 2005 edition of Hindustan Times, Mumbai. No newspaper considers Malay Chaudhry a man worthwhile enough to write a column, so he has to pay and get his articles printed via advertisements)

The atrocious english language slips aside, the stupendously rising fuel prices and the sheer incongruity and drying up of the water table make Malay Chaudhry's arguments sound like those coming from a class VIII student. Is THIS the class, understanding and maturity of Malay Chaudhry, a former IIM Bangalore professor and Founder Director of what he claims to be 'India's no 1 B-school'?!!

You might ask me why I am even taking the IIPM propoganda so seriously. It takes only a pea-brain to figure out how dubious the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) is as a place to study from their full-page approval-seeking print advertisements.

I am doing this because if you question or pooh-pooh the claims of IIPM from the POV of a concerned consumer, like Mumbai-based magazine JAM magazine did and blogger Gaurav Sabnis followed up with more questions, IIPM stifles your voice by slapping a Rs 125 crore damages legal notice and threatening police action.

Simultaneously, the IIPM PR machinery spruces up fake blogs all over the Internet to discredit Gaurav Sabnis' name. Now what if more concerned citizens question IIPM's unfair practices... will Arindam Chaudhry stoop to newer lows as sending goondas to each home?

It would be interesting to know if there are any cases pending in the consumer courts against IIPM. It is very likely that there are. The AICTE has already objected to the use of the phrase 'Indian Institute of' in IIPM's name.

Meanwhile, several bloggers have come up to back Gaurav Sabnis.

If IIPM actually goes ahead with a legal recourse against Sabnis, they will end up axing their own foot. A defamation case eventually puts the truth to test. Imagine if this blows up into a court case, and a couple of disgruntled IIPM students are gathered to come forward and testify against the institute's malpractices in a court. I am sure the pony-tailed and mouse-voiced Arindam wouldn't consider that an increase in his happiness quotient.

I think Arindam Chaudhuri is a man of great vision. By a series of intelligent moves, he has brought all of India's bloggers together.

Instead of maligning him, all of us should be thankful to him, and bow in gratitude for this yeoman service.

Gaurav Sabnis lost his job at IBM today, as a result of the legal action filed against him by IIPM. I'd hate for you to be next, Apurv...

There are 3000 students at IIPM, pursuing an MBA.

Many thousands of alumni.

And no student has ever said that promises made in promotional material is unfulfilled.

IIPM's Dr Malay Chaudhuri, Professor for Economics at IIM B, XLRI, FOunder of IMT Ghaziabad and IIPM, wants to impart business skills to would be entrepreneurs all over India. He is succeeding: IIPM's entrepreneurial students go back to their towns and start up businesses, and are succesful.

The companies that come to campus keep coming back. You think if they saw their name in full page ads they wouldnt object if it was used incorrectly?

The lies and yellow 'journalism' in blogs against IIPM is merely opinion, and has malicious and mischevious intent. They will be replied to in the same spirit. There are 3000 of us IIPM students, and anything you or anyone else says against the institute or us, will recieve a reply.

Blog on, Pandit... careful, though, I am reporting you to IIPM administration... wouldn't want you to default on your financial commitments because you ose your job over something like this..

And please do link to the latest stories in TOI and Hindu Business which speak of IIPM's global expansion...its only fair!

was that a threat? I don't understand one thing.. if they're so good why are they bothered about what oen individual thinks about them!! Let truth speak for itself.. noone can hurt them if they're reall as good as they claim to be.. Btw Gaurav Sabnis' blog says he resigned from IBM...

Scare tactics eh? Gaurav didn't lose his job, he decided to protect his employer.

I'd love to gather the IPs of all these comments, tabulate them and pin point their origin. Then put up a case against IIPM for defamation and intent to do bodily harm.

Now that would be interesting.

Mmm....iipm students, here's a bit of information for you to ponder over. There is this tiny bit of code called statcounter, that many of us install on our blogs. It gives us access to information about the IP addresses of all the people who access our blogs.

It wouldn't be difficult at all to track you down to the computer you use, if need be. So just some friendly advise, beware.

Link to stories on TOI?? How can we believe them when the fact is that IIPM holds a major stake in TOI??

threats eh? so much, but when is indian media going to notice, if ever?

This is quite extra ordinary...I never thought it ll gather more momentum...
Whatever happened to the right to Free Speech? Coercion I guess is part of the business skills being imparted at IIPM.
And there is no denying the vision of Mr. Arindam Chaudhry...from the back pages of newspaper dailies to making movies...hmmm, maybe he will star in the next one...now that is worthy of a lawsuit!

Is it just the 5.1 crore a month of ad revenue that shuts the otherwise overeager newspapers up?
I trust (and hope) a reporter can't be manipulated the way Sabnis was.
Somewhat belated Happy Dussehra!
And to round up a disjointed comment, 'some' photos up.

It is the reaction of these very IIPM administation and students thats making this issue so hot. Else it was just an honest opinion expressed by someone till now.

p.s. By da way Apurva, I'm so sure that u dont remeber me that I'd better do dat first thing. I'm ur junior from BIT. Reached your blog from neha's, whose blog I reached from Rajat's, and the chain goes on. Hop ur doin gr8. tc..

I heard that Malay Chaudhuri was actually IIMB's agent based at Delhi in 1973 and never taught at IIMB. Anyway he was eased out of IIMB within a month and went on to become an agent at XLRI too.

I have no comments for IIPM but for Mr. Arindam Chaudhary. While reading his block buster book count your chickens ......, I appreciate that he is great to write a book. Whatever he preaches has he ever actually tested them. Passion, attitude, skills, knowledge, everything is with the owner and the people involved in doing only and only politics in corporates small or big. Don't ignore me just a critic, when I comment Iam genuine in understanding people like. Iam one of those few (according to you) who read, practice and follow the same things.Next time write a book on politics in corporaters and how it really hits the real gems. Yes Iam a gem. Oneday when I write a book (on real things not just vague)I will send a free copy to you.

Guys, I have talked to IIPians, guyz i guess that IIPM is no better than 2rd grade B-school... Infact i didnt get any guy in whole of batch who was even good.
They are mostly junk, similar to Rai university or some 2nd grade colleges...

Gaurav i personaly feel that u should visit an asylum because you are in strict need of it...

What i interpreted from your blog is that you are a SICK GUY who is just frustrated as lost your job...

If you think you are very smart and ebulliant then why not you BECOME A MANAGEMENT GURU WITH A PONYTAIL...???????
the only thing you can do is sit at your computer and type all sort of rubbish you want...

I really feel very sad for U but then U deserved that kicking out of the job and finally you got that...

Next time think ten times before typing foolish things because they convey ur stupidness to the public....

Anywayz dont be frustrated and do something which will be liked by others...there is no point in just using ur fingers and typing all sort of useless things you do.........

take care of ur MIND...

USA Today (a major publishing house in the US) does not think very highly of IIPM and Mr. Choudhary either - they had the wits to plagiarize famous GE ex-CEO Jack Welch's work!!

I read ur article on the last page of hindu newspaper.
I also strongly disagree ur comment that u made on the film slumdog millionare ....
Because it actually shows only
the things that are really happening in
india...
and we should take necessary steps to irradicate those things.

IIPM n Arindam..hehehe..

"Dare 2 dream Beyond IIPM"

During the first few grand advertisements of IIPM carried by the newspapers,I caried a bad message to myself of being on of those blessed ones who goes on to get an admission at IIPM..Now I just graduated from a tier-2 institute of "not very great" reputation and I have more than just a few reasons 2 say that was better than IIPM for more reasons than few.. I think all the fee that the students pay is poured for media n newspapers..And come Media, give them money n they r ready 2 publish any shit..

This is not new for IIPM and iipm students. The question is why IIM or big B school guys fears IIPM so much when there are 100 more other colleges in private at small or bigger levels who are at par in competition.Even ICFAI and AMITY have done good and have made a reputation. While IIPMs reputation and working has always being questioned why dont people discuss in blogs the government expenditure which is being put on IIMs and they move out of country and show their ass to the government and people. Atleast Arindam is working in India and developing Indians. One asshole writes that he is looking at IPs here...so whats he gonna do,hack our computers..clearly proved how big moron he is!To be made clear IIPM is a private college.IIPM runs on branding and advertisment. The university is outside India so it cannot pass AICTE or UGC tests. Its objective is to make up the deficency of management guys in the corporate world.Arindam is not a passout from a B school. He didnt cleared CAT but his skills are so much labelled that his book becomes a best seller in a day. He is being widely recognised as one of the great trainers and management guru. Just like stephen covey and Jack welch became famous Arindam also made his space in this corporate world.I dont mind any IIM ite or Symbiosis guy of the same level he has reached.i was astonished that beside IIM ahmedabad 4Ps and The sunday indian are favourite magazine. Dude if u want to see the standard do buy once that magazine and try to read it.IIPM tries to polishes the students and make them at their best level.I was a passout from IIPM and dude believe me i am now working in such a nice profile and its all due to IIPM.IIPM is becoming golbal.Called International insitute of management it will be the first private college expanding its branches all over the world. The most amazing thing that in IIPM many IIMites are working with IIPM fellows. the great A sandeep is one guy who has been the pioneers in making IIPM the best. Had it been US or West people might have given respect its india, people like you Apurv can just degrade.let me ask the question to you, What have u done best for this world. If u r a B school frog then u will move out of this country with a package and come to India just to show ur ass and to do shit. So if u cant actually acknowledge,u dont have the right to degrade anyone.Arindams GIDF is a organisation which works for people. Hope u can make something like this..Dude to cricize someone is easy why dont u make urself one like him.

Dont try to compare IIPM with IIM.IIPM has raising it,s popularity through media.but have u seen any advertisement of IIM in any newspaper? This is the main differance between both institutes.
There is no doubt about Arindam's mngmt phylosophy and his economical views.he is a great youth leader.but dont forget that he is also a bussinesman.

Should anybody tell me about fees of IIPM.
